The goal of our company and our product line is to protect your computer, your phone, and your devices from USB system level viruses.

System Level Viruses and USB Trojan Attacks

USB system level viruses are hidden in the USB controller program memory where they cannot be detected by virus scanning software.

In 2014 we were all informed that billions of USB devices that we use everyday are vulnerable to the BAD USB virus.

This host-based virus infects the USB controller program memory and cannot be detected or stopped by virus scanning software.

USB Defender is the only solution to stop system level viruses
like BAD USB.

  1. USB connector

  2. CPU and USB Controller program memory

  3. Flash Memory

There are a variety of ways USB system level viruses can make their way to USB devices.

The first method is via a USB attack platform. A USB attack platform is a device that has been designed to easily create system level viruses. Normally all that is required is loading a canned virus attack and adjusting the attack script. What is amazing, is that such devices are readily available for purchase:

These devices most often allow you to implement a USB Trojan attack. This is where a device is used for one purpose but there is another unexpected device included.

For example, a USB memory stick with a keyboard enabled USB Trojan attack can type commands to your system when you are not aware. These commands can do anything such as: copy some of your files to the cloud or initiate a ransomware attack.

So before you insert a USB memory stick into your system, you should understand the risk.

The second method system level viruses can infect USB devices is even more insidious.

Security Research Labs published their findings on "BadUSB" at a Black Hat conference. They found that the manufacturing process used to create BILLIONS of USB controllers left them vulnerable to reprogramming. This means the devices that you use and trust every day, your keyboard, your mouse, and your memory sticks, could become infected via a host virus. And as we stated above, once a USB system level virus has infected a device, it cannot be detected by virus scanning software. Please see this article for more information.

We have demonstrated USB system level virus attacks on: Macbooks, PCs, Chrome books, and Android Phones.

We are proud to offer a product that will protect your system and your USB devices from such attacks.
